About Us
Our Story
In 2014, our founder arrived in Palolem with a simple vision: to create a space where yoga could be practiced as it was meant to be with intention, authenticity, and genuine care. What began as a small beachfront shala with a handful of dedicated students has blossomed into a thriving yoga sanctuary recognized worldwide.
Over the past decade, Ruban Yoga has welcomed over 500 yoga teachers into our certification programs, hosted retreat participants from 45+ countries, and become a beloved haven for yogis seeking authentic practice. Our growth has never been about size it’s been about impact. We remain committed to keeping our community intimate, our instruction personal, and our practice grounded in the true essence of yoga.
Our Speciality
Small Groups, Personal Attention
We believe yoga is personal. That is why we keep our classes, retreats, and teacher training programs intimate wherever possible. Smaller groups allow our teachers to observe your practice, understand your individual needs, and offer guidance that goes beyond simply demonstrating a posture. You are not just another student in a room. You are part of the practice.
A Natural Setting Near Palolem Beach
Our yoga shala is nestled in nature, just around a one-minute walk from Palolem Beach. Here, the sound of the waves, fresh sea breeze, birdsong, and surrounding greenery naturally become part of your experience. There is no need to escape into a different world to find peace. Sometimes, it is simply about slowing down enough to notice the one you are already in. Our setting creates a natural space for yoga, meditation, reflection, and rest.
Traditional Yoga, Taught with Care
At Ruban Yoga, we believe authentic yoga is about understanding the practice, not simply copying the movements. Our classes draw from traditional yoga practices, including Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga, while giving attention to alignment, breath, awareness, and individual needs. Our Indian yoga teachers guide students with patience and care, helping you understand not only how to practice but also why the practice matters. Whether you join us for a single class, a retreat, or teacher training, our aim is to help you leave feeling more aware, grounded, and connected.
Learn Beyond the Yoga Mat
Yoga is more than physical postures. Our programs create opportunities to explore different aspects of yogic living, from meditation and pranayama to mindfulness and self-reflection. Through our retreats and teacher training programs, you can take time away from the usual pace of life and create space for deeper learning and personal exploration. The goal is not simply to collect experiences, but to take something meaningful from them into your everyday life.
Sound Healing and Deep Relaxation
Sound healing is an important part of the Ruban Yoga experience. Through sound bath meditation and the vibrations of Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, and other instruments, you are invited to slow down, relax, and turn your attention inward. Sound healing may be included in selected retreats and programs, offering a peaceful complement to your yoga and meditation practice. It is a space to pause, breathe, and simply be.
A Connection to Goa's Culture
We believe that experiencing a place means experiencing its culture. Our connection to Goa extends beyond the yoga shala. Through traditional cooking experiences, locally inspired food, and opportunities to explore the flavours and traditions of the region, we invite you to experience another side of Goa. From the practice room to the kitchen, every experience is an opportunity to connect more deeply with the place around you.
Authentic Goan Cooking Experience
Discover the flavors of Goa through traditional cooking classes led by local cooks. Learn how to prepare authentic Goan dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and time-honored techniques. More than just a cooking lesson, it is a chance to connect with the local culture, food, and traditions of Palolem.
